In the months of November and December, Page County High School decided to give back to the community in a big way. The SCA held a Coin Contest where Advisory classes were challenged to bring in their spare change. Change added positive points to the Advisory class’ totals and paper money subtracted from the totals. The Advisory class with the most points at the end of the contest was awarded a pizza party compliments of the SCA. In total, the students in staff raised a whopping $1,331.13. The total amount raised was given to Page One of Shenandoah to purchase food items for their pantry.
Mrs. Painter’s class collected donations for the Page County Animal Shelter. The students took the money donated and went to Walmart to shop for items from the shelter’s wish list and then took those items, plus the ones donated to the animal shelter on December 15th. Those donations will ensure that the shelter can continue to help the animals of Page County.
The FCCLA held a food drive for their Families First Project. Each day, students and staff were challenged to bring in particular non perishable items for the food drive. Every item donated gave that student or staff member two tickets to put into the daily drawing. The FCCLA gave away prizes each day ranging from cupcakes to gift cards to an xbox and TV. The students and staff did not disappoint and the food drive was extremely successful bringing in a total of 2,217 items to be donated to Page One of Shenandoah to help feed hungry families in our community.
As one of PCHS FBLA's Community Service Projects for the year they decided to collect items for the PCMS Care Closet to help and support future Panthers. Many thanks to FBLA members, other PCHS students, PCHS Faculty/Staff, and members of the community for donating 400 items from November 16 - December 19.
Finally, to top it all off, the FBLA, FCCLA, and NTHS placed nearly 500 wreaths on graves at Arlington National Cemetery for Wreaths Across America.
