Students in Miss Carter's Math 8 and Algebra 1 classes practiced graphing in a hands-on way using Lego style baseboards and dot blocks. Math 8 students practiced graphing equations of lines in slope intercept form. Students placed a dot block where the line crossed the y axis and then used the slope, making a pattern, to continue the line. Algebra 1 students solved systems of equations by graphing. Students were given the equations of two lines. They used the blocks to graph both lines using the same slope and y intercept concepts that the Math 8 students used. The answer to the system of equations was the one coordinate where the lines crossed one another.
