On Friday, March 22nd, students from Page County high school traveled to Washington, DC and attended a bilingual play at the GALA Hispanic Theater. They saw “Don Quixote: Nuevas Andanzas,” which is a new twist on the classic Spanish tale. After the show, the students stayed for a question and answer session with the actors.
Following the play, the group traveled to Taberna del Alabardero, a Spanish restaurant near the White House. The students tried a range of traditional tapas (or finger food), their choice of seafood or chicken paella (typical rice dish originating from Valencia, Spain), and torrijas (custard) with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The students were thus able to experience an authentic Spanish dining experience. It was quite the adventure!
Many thanks to everyone who helped with getting us there despite the wildfires!
