Dear Class of 2020 Students & Families,
Congratulations! Graduation from high school is a time-honored tradition that marks an important milestone in a student’s life. Every high school diploma is the result of a lot of hard work and persistence. It is a time to celebrate the end of a thirteen-year journey and a moment to reflect on the accomplishments that have occurred. It is also a time to share memories and look towards the future. Page County Public Schools would like all of our students to have the opportunity to participate in a graduation ceremony on May 30, 2020. However, in order to comply with the Governor’s order, both high schools have secured a virtual videographer to maintain the original date. Students will be scheduled in 5-minute increments to walk across the stage in their cap and gown as their name is being called. Luray High School’s taping will occur on Monday, May 11, 2020, and Tuesday, May 12, 2020. Page County High School’s taping will occur on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, and Thursday, May 14, 2020. Each student may bring a maximum of 4 additional guests to the taping event. Graduates – please come dressed in your cap and gown. Other accessory items will be provided to you that day. The appropriate physical distancing and safety guidelines will be adhered to during this taping event. Students will be contacted by their high school and asked to schedule a time on the designated dates. The recorded video clips will be put together into a professional movie to be aired on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the respective graduation times. We encourage families to celebrate that day with their student and incorporate this video into their celebration. After we are notified that social distancing requirements have been lifted, we will organize a senior celebration/picnic for all 2020 graduates, families, and friends to enjoy time together as a class. Please continue to stay healthy and safe!
