PAL --Performing Arts Luray--is planning a production that will take place on the grounds of the Singing Tower in early October. It will be a Shakespeare in the Park event that will involve the entire community as well as tourists. PAL would like to get students involved in project-based learning, and this Shakespearean play is a great way for students apply differing skills to a community event. Mark you calendars for auditions!

Dear Class of 2020 Students & Families, Thank you for your responses to the survey and suggestions that have been provided. Based on feedback we have received, we have been working to get additional guidance on the number of people that can attend the filming with the graduate. We are pleased to announce that the graduate can now have up to 14 guests present for the filming. All attendees will be required to maintain proper social distancing and everyone is encouraged to wear a mask or face covering for protection. Please remember that we are still making plans to hold an in-person graduation once large gatherings are permitted. In the meantime, the celebration video is an opportunity for the graduate to celebrate with family and friends on the actual graduation date of May 30, 2020. The video will encompass various pieces including students walking across stage, speeches by the valedictorian and salutatorian, academic recognition, and other special features that we hope you enjoy. The final video will premiere on YouTube at the original graduation time for each high school. It has been, and will continue to be, our goal to give the Seniors the recognition they deserve for their hard work over the past thirteen years. Please share.

important update regarding graduations
Dear Class of 2020 Students & Families, Yesterday, Page County Public Schools released information regarding plans for a virtual celebration in an effort to honor this year’s graduating class. This celebration was designed to be something extra for the Class of 2020, not in place of a traditional in-person graduation. On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, division officials participated in a conference call with State Superintendent of Education Dr. James Lane and Secretary of Education Qarni regarding commencement exercises. During this meeting, school divisions were told to use caution if they were planning for traditional in-person graduation ceremonies because it was highly unlikely that the Governor will be allowing for such large gatherings in the near future. School divisions were encouraged to model procedures used by Louisa County. In an effort to follow all the safety protocols for physical distancing during the filming, students and guests were limited to 5 (graduate & 4 guests) because 4 other school personnel and the videographer will also be present in the gymnasium (maximum is 10). Both high schools have been in touch with Jostens to try and ensure every student's graduation regalia will be available at the time of filming. The filming of the virtual celebration was scheduled for next week in order to be completed in time for students to share with their families on the original graduation date. This video will include other graduation components and special recognition. Seniors will be receiving a survey this week to seek their feedback regarding future graduation possibilities. Page County Public Schools is still prepared to conduct an in-person graduation ceremony once we are allowed to do so - whenever that may be. Again, our intention with the virtual celebration was to provide an additional way to recognize our Seniors. We hope the video serves as a memento. Additionally, each high school has purchased yard signs, hosted “Be the Light” nights, and has been posting senior spotlights on all social media platforms. It has been and will continue to be our goal to give the Seniors the recognition they deserve for their hard work over the past thirteen years.
