If you see them out and about, please let them know how much you appreciate them. * Luray High School: Principal: Mrs. Nicky Clark Assistant Principal: Ms. Tara Meadows Mrs. Clark has been the principal of Luray High School for the past 3 years. Before that she served as Assistant Principal for 2 years. She says if she could have given advice to her younger self she would say, "Breathe, and enjoy every moment." Her favorite time of the day is early in the morning before she is with others, drinking her coffee in the quiet, reflecting, and doing her morning devotionals. Ms. Meadows is in her first year as Assistant Principal at Luray High School. Before becoming an AP she was a history teacher at Luray High School for 22 years. Her favorite sports are anything to do with running. She's a former track and field and cross country coach. Watching competitive track and field is her favorite. Growing up, she says, she wanted to be an astronaut. Her favorite time of the day is also early in the morning, around 4 a.m., drinking coffee, and enjoying her gym time. Page County High School: Principal: Mr. David Cale Assistant Principal: Ms. Shannon Hawkins Mr. Cale has been principal of Page County High School for 7 years. He said if he could give advice to his younger self he'd say, "Don't doubt yourself so much, go for it, it won't hurt...I promise." Mr. Cale is also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Ms. Hawkins is in her 1st year as an Assistant Principal at Page County High School. She says when she was growing up, she wanted to be a Radio City Rockette. Unfortunately, at 5'2" tall, she didn't meet the height requirements of 5'6 to 5'10 1/2. LOL. She says she's enjoying her first year as an assistant and the best part of her job is getting to see the kids everyday and just talking with them. Listed below are the changes for the morning route only- Bus 48 will cover 340 from the recycling center to Rudy’s Diner and Eppard Subdivision around 7:45 am. If you see them out and about, please let them know how much you appreciate them. * Today we honor our Middle School Principals and Assistant Principals Luray Middle School: Principal: Dr. Paul Johnson Assistant Principal: Mrs. Heather Foltz Dr. Johnson is in his 2nd year at Luray Middle School as principal. When asked about something that happened recently that made him smile, he said, "I was with a special needs student who was roaming through the building (I was trailing for safety), and the student entered the auditorium, got onto the stage and went into a performance (dancing, singing, facial and arm expressions). It was the cutest thing during what could have been deemed as an annoying situation." When asked if he could visit anywhere in the world, where would he go? It was no surprise that he answered Hartlepool, England, his hometown. Dr. Johnson moved here at the age of 11, leaving lots of family behind. He loves to visit England as often as possible. Mrs. Foltz says it was no surprise that she became a teacher, as she used to "teach" her stuffed animals as a little girl. When asked about something kind someone had done for her recently, she said a junior from Luray High School brought her Dunkin to school, and it made her day. Thank you Dr. Johnson and Mrs. Foltz for all you give to the Luray Middle School Community. You are appreciated!

She says if she could visit anywhere in the world she would travel to Hawaii to explore the beautiful state and learn all about the culture. Her favorite things to do outside of school are spending time with her friends and family at their cabin, and hiking in the woods. Mr. Capuano is in his 3rd year as Assistant Principal at Page County Middle School and before that he served as an Assistant Principal/Administrative Intern for 1 year in Rockingham County. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, Mr. Capuano said, "A professional football player." His favorite all time food--- A Cheeseburger!! Of course! Thank you Mrs. Miller and Mr. Capuano for all you give to the students, staff, and Page County Middle School community. You are so appreciated!

This afternoon the PCPS central office received a phone call from an unknown individual who did not make a direct threat to anyone in the division but caused concern among the division staff. Out of an abundance of caution, staff contacted the Page County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) and Luray Police Department (LPD) who responded immediately. Appropriate steps were taken at PCPS schools to continue to ensure student and staff safety. LPD and PCSO personnel were present at all schools throughout the day and at dismissal. There will be additional law enforcement present at evening activities in the division. The LPD and the PCSO will also provide a continued presence at all schools tomorrow. We take all concerns very seriously and will continue to work collaboratively to ensure student and staff safety at all times.

Mrs. Meadows, 7th grade English Teacher at Page County Middle School, asked students to pick a word for 2022, and then they were posted on her Brag Board.

5th graders at Springfield Elementary are learning about electricity. Students started the unit by exploring static electricity. The students charged a produce bag with static electricity by rubbing a piece of felt on the produce bag and the balloon. Once charged, they threw the produce bag up and held the balloon under the bag. Having both materials positively charged, they repel each other, allowing the balloon to control the produce bag suspended in air.

If you see them out and about, please let them know how much you appreciate them. * Shenandoah Elementary School: Principal: Mrs. Monica Hinegardner Assistant Principal: Mr. Corey Harlow Mrs. Hinegardner is in her 1st year as principal. Before becoming principal at Shenandoah Elementary School, she served as an Assistant Principal in Shenandoah County. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said she always wanted to be an educator. " There was a short period in my childhood that I wanted to be cashier, but that changed when I started playing school." When asked about a kind or thoughtful thing that someone had done for her recently, she said someone wrote her note saying how they appreciated how she handled a situation. "My love language is words of affirmation, so reading words of thoughtfulness/encouragement is the best gift anyone could give in my book." Mr. Corey Harlow, is in his 1st year as an Assistant Principal. He says if he could give advice to his younger self he would say not to worry so much about the future, but rather to live life to the fullest, in the moment, and always to follow my passion. As we grow up it is important that we keep playing, that we keep laughing, and that we ALWAYS have fun. Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new. You have the choice to make it great day, or not. The choice to be happy is ultimately yours. He says when he was younger he was always playing school. "In my mind, teaching is a calling to serve. Everyday I have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of another and impact students' futures. The job may not always be easy, but every single day it is guaranteed to be rewarding." Ms. Dupuis is in her 4th year as principal and says what she enjoys most about her job as principal is the students. As much as she enjoys working with the professionals on her staff who are passionate about and committed to the students, it's the students themselves who provide a continual flow of joy! She says if she could give advice to her younger self it would be, "Don't let yesterday use up too much of today!" Ms. Webb is in her 3rd year as Assistant Principal and says the relationships she is able to build with the students, staff, and community members at Stanley are the best part of her job. She says that relationships are the foundation of a strong community. When asked if you could visit anywhere in the world, where would she go, and why? She said she would buy an around-the-world plane ticket and visit many places, soak in the different cultures, and try cuisines from all around the world. Luray Elementary School: Principal, Liz Dodson, and Assistant Principal, Jodi Foltz Ms. Dodson is in her first year as principal and Ms. Foltz is also in her first year as assistant principal at Luray Elementary School. Ms. Dodson said if she could have given advice to her younger self she would say not to take things personally. Her favorite time of the day is in the quiet of the early morning. Ms. Foltz says her advice to her younger self would be to practice humility- always put others first and you will receive blessings abundantly. Outside of school she enjoys working in her vegetable garden and cross stitching. Thank you Ms. Dodson and Ms. Foltz for all you do for Luray Elementary School.

Springfield Elementary School Principal: Craig Tutt Mr. Tutt has been the principal at Springfield Elementary School for three years. He is admired by his faculty and staff and the community he serves. There's not much he doesn't do for his Springfield Cardinals. Some fun facts about Mr. Tutt: His all-time favorite food is Sushi--Toro, Uni and anything Nigiri Outside of school he enjoys playing the guitar, watching sports on TV, and napping. Notice to parents in the Shenandoah and Grovehill Area: This afternoon there will be two bus changes: Students living on McDaniel Lane and Rinaca Lane will ride bus 58 home. Bus 48 and Bus 2 will be combined this afternoon causing altered drop off times. The route will run in this order- 340 to Strole Farm Road to Grovehill River Rd to Riverbend Road to Newport Road to Rockingham Drive to 340 then to Battlecreek Road.
