Yesterday, Mrs. Alger's English 9 classes participated in prereading activities for the novel, The Outsiders. Students learned about stereotypes, historical events, and slang used during the time period, in preparation for reading the novel.

A shout-out to our amazing school board during this School Board Appreciation Month. Page County Public Schools thanks you for all you do for our schools and our community. We have the best!

Mrs. Bauserman's Biology class is exploring the significance of macromolecules as the essential building blocks of life. To reinforce their understanding of functions, monomers, structural composition, and practical examples, students engaged in a tournament-style building block game. This interactive approach not only made learning fun, but also helped them apply their knowledge in a competitive setting.

Mrs. Benson's physics classes went outside yesterday to measure their distances ran and the time they took in order to use their kinematic equations in real life. What a beautiful day to enjoy a lesson outdoors.

Students in Driver's Ed classes at LHS used coding and Sphero Cars to learn about different types of traffic patterns, round-abouts, intersections, etc.

Today, in Mr. Benson's honors Chemistry class, students began class with a bell ringer practicing with mass, determining if blowing air into a balloon changes its mass. Students then proceeded to weigh a stick of gum (not sugar free), then chewed the gum until all flavor was gone (about 10 min). The gum was then reweighed to see if it had changed due to the elimination of the sugar.

Good evening,
Out of an abundance of caution and due to low temperatures tonight, additional forecasted snow Thursday morning, and hazardous road conditions in various parts of the division, all Page County Public Schools will be closed Thursday, February 20, 2025. 12-month staff report by noon unless otherwise contacted by your supervisor. A decision about afternoon and evening activities on Thursday will be made by 12:00pm.
Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate the continued challenges of winter weather.

Dear PCPS Parents, Guardians, Students and Community Members,
Please read this letter for information on how to access a short, anonymous survey as the division begins the search for a new superintendent: https://5il.co/384br
Thank you, PCPS School Board

Good afternoon PCPS Faculty, Staff and Families,
PCPS is closely monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Forecasts vary on the timing and on the amount of snowfall expected across the division.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding school or after-school activities for tomorrow. We are waiting for additional forecast details this evening. However, to help families prepare, we want to inform you that an early dismissal or school closure may be necessary tomorrow (2-19-25). If conditions allow, we will make every effort to hold school for part of the day. However, if the snowfall begins too early, we may need to cancel school entirely for safety reasons. The very low temperatures are also problematic for any precipitation that may fall.
While we aim to make weather-related decisions as early as possible the day before an event, that is not always feasible. If we cannot decide by 8:30 PM the night before, we will notify families by 5:30 AM the following morning.
Families will receive updates through our phone, email, and text system, the PCPS App, Facebook, local media outlets, and our website.
The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate weather-related decisions.
Thank you for your continued support of Page County Public Schools.
