There are a bunch of good eggs at Luray Middle School! Today, Mr. Riley and Mrs. Liscomb candled the chicken eggs that are in the incubator in Mr. Good’s Ag class. Most of the eggs felt warm, and they all smelled fresh. The heat and humidity will continue to be monitored each day leading up to the expected hatch next week. Stay tuned for more eggciting updates.
8th grade Physical Science students explore some of the more explosive elements on the periodic table. Sodium, an alkali metal, is so chemically reactive it rips water molecules apart. When water touches the sodium, the oxygen that was part of the water (H2O) bonds with a sodium atom kicking out the hydrogen from the water molecule. Hydrogen, a very flammable gas, is ignited by the exothermic reaction. Wow!! Science is so cool! Thanks, Ms. Cupp for engaging our students in such cool chemistry!
We're celebrating Farm to School week. This week's menu includes sweet potatoes grown at Survivor Farm in Luray and apples grown at Thornton River Orchard in Sperryville. Here is a sample meal from one of our schools today (corn dog nuggets, green beans, sweet potatoes, apple, and milk).

This is an important message from Page County Public Schools:
Good evening. Per the Page County Public Schools calendar, progress reports are scheduled to go home this week (October 5-9, 2020). At the elementary level, students will receive a printed copy. At the secondary level, we are encouraging students and parents to check your child's Schoology account for the latest progress (we will not be printing reports). If you are having difficulty accessing your child's Schoology account, please reach out to your child's school. Thank you, and please share.
Exciting times at LMS as we begin the process of distributing student chromebooks. Students will gradually be issued chromebooks over the next week. Remote Learners can pickup their chromebook on Friday, Oct. 9 from 2pm-7pm in the gym lobby.
Remember to submit your child's signed Device Agreement Form.
Today is Custodian and Maintenance Appreciation Day!!
Today is a day to stop and thank a very valuable group of people within our schools. The unsung heroes, our custodial and maintenance staff. Your hard work and dedication in getting our buildings prepared for the school year, and your day-to-day duties of cleaning and sanitizing to help keep our students and staff safe, have not gone unnoticed. Today, we celebrate you! (Pictures to come. It's hard to get these people in one place when they are so busy). Please share.❤
Progress Reports coming soon
Our Building Bulldog Bridges Program continues to be a success as we reach out to the smiling faces we are missing in our building.
PCPS Nutritional Services would like some feedback regarding our meal delivery program that operated from March 17th - September 9th. Part of our program was a pilot (grant) to learn more about meal delivery. Can you spare 5 minutes (or less) of your time to share your experience? If you didn't choose to have meals delivered, we still would like to gather a bit of information from you.
