Per Governor Northam’s announcement today, all schools will remain CLOSED for the remainder of this school year. Within the next 24 hours, all school divisions will be given guidance from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) pertaining to graduation credits, continuity of learning with a focus on equity and other matters. Meals will continue to be provided to students. We know you will have many questions and we ask for your patience and understanding while we work on the details in collaboration with our federal and state agencies. We will have more to share with our stakeholders later this week, and we will continue to communicate the next steps and plans as they evolve throughout the upcoming weeks and months as we navigate these uncharted waters together. Please stay safe, and please share. Thank you.
Update from the superintendent's office: PCPS has been working in consultation with various agencies regarding school closures due to COVID-19. While we are awaiting official guidance from local and state agencies, we would encourage families to plan for the likely event of an extended school closure beyond the original March 27th date. While we do not have an official announcement just yet, we want our PCPS families to be prepared for this strong possibility, as an official decision is likely to be made sometime next week. When, and if, that happens, more communication regarding our instructional plans will be forthcoming. There is no academic emergency right now, so do not feel pressured to begin teaching your students at home; however, if you want things for your children to do, we have lots of resources listed on our website, pagek12.org (click on the Covid-19 button). Right now, students only need to be enjoying the safety of their homes and an extended spring break.
Each day our numbers continue to grow in our meal deliveries for children. Almost 600 meals were delivered on the first day. On the second day, 737 were delivered, and we have orders for almost 800 meals today. None of this would be possible without the help of our volunteers who are helping to serve our community. Thank you for all you do! If you, or someone you know is need of meals, please visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGd70TkPEXF5N-0nnbhVPFKYDDSc-Zd3UhvZCRJMKMD7WsJg/viewform

It's time for a most-deserved Shout Out. This morning Page County Public Schools was able to send out over 600 meals to children in our community. This could not have been done without Nutritional Services, Jennie Jeffries, as well as the many PCPS volunteers, cafeteria employees, drivers, administrators, and the list goes on! With less that 48 hours to organize and prepare, we are doing what we do best, providing for our children. Thank you for all you do! Please share.
