To the class of 2020: We never thought your senior year would end this way, and for that we are truly sorry. Our hearts go out to you during this time, and we regret that your senior memories have been cut short. While we do not know the fate of proms or graduation ceremonies yet, we are happy to say, that seniors that were set to graduate in the spring, the state will be waiving some of the requirements necessary, therefore allowing your graduating to proceed. Your high schools will be in touch with you soon to provide more information and answer any questions you may have. We are proud of all of your hard work and accomplishments!

Per Governor Northam’s announcement today, all schools will remain CLOSED for the remainder of this school year. Within the next 24 hours, all school divisions will be given guidance from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) pertaining to graduation credits, continuity of learning with a focus on equity and other matters. Meals will continue to be provided to students. We know you will have many questions and we ask for your patience and understanding while we work on the details in collaboration with our federal and state agencies. We will have more to share with our stakeholders later this week, and we will continue to communicate the next steps and plans as they evolve throughout the upcoming weeks and months as we navigate these uncharted waters together. Update from the superintendent's office: PCPS has been working in consultation with various agencies regarding school closures due to COVID-19.  While we are awaiting official guidance from local and state agencies, we would encourage families to plan for the likely event of an extended school closure beyond the original March 27th date.  While we do not have an official announcement just yet, we want our PCPS families to be prepared for this strong possibility, as an official decision is likely to be made sometime next week. When, and if, that happens, more communication regarding our instructional plans will be forthcoming.  There is no academic emergency right now, so do not feel pressured to begin teaching your students at home; however, if you want things for your children to do, we have lots of resources listed on our website, pagek12.org (click on the Covid-19 button). Right now, students only need to be enjoying the safety of their homes and an extended spring break.

On the second day, 737 were delivered, and we have orders for almost 800 meals today. None of this would be possible without the help of our volunteers who are helping to serve our community. With less that 48 hours to organize and prepare, we are doing what we do best, providing for our children. Thank you for all you do! Please share.
