During their introduction to STEM in Mrs. Weakley’s 6th and 7th Grade classes at Page County Middle School, students completed a mini STEM Challenge. The mini cup challenge was a team challenge that did not allow the team members to touch certain items with their hands. They could not touch the cups while stacking them or touch the pom pom balls that had to go on top of the cup tower. Each team had to problem solve how they could complete the task using the various items allowed to be touched which were: rubber bands, yarn, and straws. This activity is a fun and engaging way to introduce students to STEM and problem solving.
