Practical Nursing I students demonstrated donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE) in the skills lab. Students were provided scenarios from an electronic medical record. Each student determined which type of isolation the patient needed to be placed in based on the history and physical, physician orders, and lab results. Examples of isolation included Airborne, Droplet, Contact and Neutropenic. Students had specific skills to perform for each isolation patient, such as obtaining C&S on wounds, performing COVID tests, administering meds, and applying ace wraps.
These are just a few of the many skills that students learn when enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at Page County Technical Center.
