Practical Nursing II students at Page County Technical Center participated in a classroom activity using a balloon to model the uterus, and a ping pong ball as a baby to illustrate the physiological changes of cervical effacement and dilation during labor. The students demonstrated how the cervix progressively thins and opens in response to Braxton Hicks versus true labor contractions, providing a visual and practical understanding of the critical stages in the birthing process.
