Medical Assistant students received infection control training on handwashing. The focus is on proper technique for washing hands with soap and water, including wetting hands, applying soap, thoroughly lathering all surfaces (palms, back of hands, between fingers, under nails), scrubbing for at least 20 seconds, rinsing thoroughly, and drying with a clean towel. With UV hand washing training, the UV particles can only be removed by thorough handwashing. By illuminating the hands with a UV lamp after washing hands, it is visible whether the hands have been washed properly and completely.
