Potato Man Surgery
Teacher - Mrs. Darlene Pettit, PCTC
Mrs. Pettit’s Clinical Medical Assistant and Medical Terminology students tested their knowledge of anatomical directions and terminology this week by performing "Potato Man Surgery." Students were given the following scenario: The Spud family was on its way to Idaho for a family reunion when the car got mashed in a multi-car accident. Your patient has several injuries that require surgical treatment. The student surgeons were required to perform tasks such as amputating the distal end of the left leg, suturing a laceration in the cephalic area, and removing the patient's spleen. Students did a great job of reinforcing what they had learned in class.
