Page County Public Schools Welcomes Newly Elected Chairman
Jason Scott Breeden assumes role as PCPS School Board Chairman
LURAY, Va. ― On Monday, January 4, 2021, Page County Public Schools school board members convened for their reorganizational meeting in which Jason Scott Breeden was welcomed as the newly elected Chairman of the School Board. Mr. Breeden was elected by Page County residents in the November 4, 2020, election as the Chairman-At-Large.
Mr. Breeden comes to the Page County School Board with a wealth of education and experience. He attended Blue Ridge Community College before transferring to James Madison University, where he received his B.S. in Sociology/Early Childhood Education in 1999. He received his master’s degree in Education Administration from Shenandoah University in 2004, and his EdS in K-12 Reading Education from the University of Virginia. HIs professional experiences include having been a Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher in Newport News, VA, a technology teacher in Shenandoah County, a Standards of Learning Specialist and Executive Director of Administrative Services within Westmoreland County, Division-Level Support Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Education in the Office of School Improvement, and as an Assistant Principal and Pre-K supervisor for Page County Public Schools.
Mr. Breeden offered this message to the community in regards to his new position:
“PCPS Families and PCPS Staff,
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as your School Board Chairman. My goal is to
foster and support strong relationships among our teachers, staff, administrators, the
Superintendent and the School Board. The School Board is committed to ensuring that
our teachers and staff have all of the resources and support they need to be successful.
This school year, as well as last school year, has been very challenging. Like many
other districts, PCPS has had to take an entirely new instructional approach adapting to
remote learning. The School Board, along with the Superintendent, Dr. Gonzalez, and
the administrative staff, will continue to do whatever is necessary to give our students
the very best instructional experience possible. Our students are the future, and it is
imperative that we take the necessary steps to close the gap in instruction our students
have experienced.
As we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time, please know the School
Board is committed to our staff, students, and parents. Each and every decision that
comes before the Board will be discussed from every angle and we will carefully
consider the outcomes of those decisions.
In closing, as the Chairman of the Board, I will continue to work with parents, students,
teachers, staff, and community leaders to help move our schools forward in a positive
direction. As we attempt different strategies, please remember the old adage, “nothing
ventured, nothing gained.” It is often by small steps, and not giant leaps, that great
accomplishments are made. In the spirit of collaboration, let us go forward together to
do the monumental work of preparing all of our students for the exciting world that
awaits them.
Respectfully,
Jason S. Breeden
Page County School Board Chairman”
