3:50pm
LHS has been cleared by Emergency Services - there is no fire at LHS; instead there is a malfunction in the system. Staff are working to escort any remaining students back to their classroom to retrieve belongings.
Please stand by for additional information regarding any other student access to the building to retrieve personal items and for a status on after-school and evening events.
Thank you.

Dear Luray High School Community,
At approximately 3:00 PM on Monday September 16th, 2024 the fire alarm system was activated at Luray High School. This prompted an evacuation of the building which required that students and staff leave their belongings in the school building. In cooperation with local emergency services personnel we have dismissed students on school buses, to parents, and in their personal vehicles.
Once the school building has been cleared by emergency personnel and we are able to reenter, we will notify parents and students of a time when they can return to the building to retrieve their personal belongings. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

September 15-October 15th we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Route 211 may remain closed for up to two hours. Alternate routes are recommended at this time. Families of Governor's School students are being contacted directly by the LHS or PCHS.

The community issue involving law enforcement on Route 211 near New Market Mountain has been resolved. Luray High School is moving back to normal operations.

There is a community issue involving law enforcement on Route 211 (near the New Market mountain). While the situation is contained to that area, Luray High School is in lock-in out of an abundance of caution. A lock-in means that students will be changing classes as normal, all students will be kept inside and early dismissals or transfers of students for the Tech Center will go as planned and are being monitored by the SRO and school administration.
Students returning from the Governor’s School are currently being held on Route 211 by law enforcement as all traffic in the area has been halted.
There is no direct threat to LHS students or staff or to any PCPS school - this is a precaution given the location of the police matter.
Thank you.

Dear PCPS Faculty, Staff and Families,
The Department of Criminal Justice Services has shared with school divisions a notice of a school shooting threat that is circulating nationally on social media through Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok. This threat is not specific to any person or school in Page County and it is believed that this is a mass distribution of a spam Snapchat image. However, we are still taking this seriously and will continue to monitor it throughout the day. At this time, there are no specific threats to our schools, staff or students.
We are in communication with local law enforcement. There will be an increased police presence at school throughout the day and at dismissal. This social media information is being monitored by multiple agencies and updates will be provided if needed.
As we have been sharing all week, please notify us or law enforcement if you hear or read anything of concern.
Thank you for your continued support and ongoing vigilance as we all work to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Dr. Fox
Superintendent

Good afternoon Luray Middle Faculty, Staff and Families,
After conversations today with students regarding making threatening statements, administrators at LMS were alerted to a concerning statement a student made to other students. Administration and law enforcement immediately engaged with the student to investigate the incident.
We are notifying everyone to minimize rumors and reassure everyone that we are aware of the situation and law enforcement is involved. At this time, we do not believe this threat to be credible and no students or staff to be in danger. The student will not be in school and will be held accountable in accordance with the PCPS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and through law enforcement.
We will continue to take these reports very seriously with the safety of our students and staff remaining to be a top priority. Additionally, we are continuing to review our practices to ensure that we are doing everything possible to keep our school community safe. Parents and guardians, please continue having conversations with your students about what they say.
Additionally, we encourage all staff, students and families to continue to report anything that may be concerning.
Thank you for your continued support of PCPS and LMS.
