Page County Technical Center celebrates Kindness Week.

To continue celebrating our Technology staff, here are just a few pictures of great lessons supported by our technology team. From finding exciting activities to do with students to enhance classroom learning, to making sure our equipment is operating properly and our network is top shape, we wouldn't be able to offer our students the experiences they get without each of them. Thank you for all you do everyday to support our students and our schools. We think we have the BEST IT Professionals!

A compliment is an expression of regard, admiration, praise, or respect. It feels great to receive a compliment. Research shows getting a sincere compliment gives us a positive boost and in turn also makes the giver and receiver happy. We know it can feel awkward sometimes to give a compliment and/or to receive one, but the more practice you get, the more natural it will feel. Such examples could include, “You’re like sunshine on a rainy day”, “You are beautiful on the inside and outside”, “You are making a difference” or You’re an awesome friend."

Page County Public Schools would like to give a sincere thank you to all of our School Resource Officers-- February 15, 2024, is School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day in the Commonwealth of Virginia. School Resource Officer Appreciation Day not only honors those who serve our school communities as certified law enforcement officers, but also commemorates their contribution as role models and law-related educators.

Important Bus Route Information: Notice to parents in Luray area-- Bus 65 will not be running tomorrow. Bus 55 will be running a double to cover it. Please expect delays on bus 65's route of approximately 30-40 minutes in the morning.

Important Bus Route Info-- Notice to Parents in the Stanley area-- There will be no BUS 35 this afternoon. Expect delays of up to 45 minutes.

PCPS Families, Due to the lost instructional time we have experienced so far this school year due to weather related delays and closings, the PCPS School Board voted to amend 2023-2024 school calendar, removing the remaining 2-hour delay days. This means that February 28, March 13 and May 8,will now be full school days where students and staff begin at the regular school start time. When we show love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us to develop inner happiness and peace. PCPS Families, On February 8, the Page News and Courier printed the honor roll lists for Quarter 2. Unfortunately, an error in the calculations has been identified which led to some incorrect student recognitions. We apologize for this error and the Courier will be printing corrected Quarter 2 honor roll recognitions for the division in the February 16 edition. In honor of Black History Month, we will be highlighting some innovations of African Americans that changed the way we produce and consume foods. On February 27, 2024, we will offer biscuits at breakfast and will offer French Fries at lunch. Interested in finding out why those foods, see the graphic below.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Smiling is one such random act of kindness. Smiling has been proven to increase endorphins – which help you and others feel much better. By giving someone a smile, it will encourage them to do the same. Smiling can be a chain reaction and often is contagious. Take a moment today to make someone smile.

Important Bus Route: Notice to parents in the Shenandoah area-- Shenandoah Bus 11 will not run in the morning since we are on a 2 hour delay. Bus 11's In-town students can expect delays of up to 30 minutes. Thank you.

Weather Update - Given the chance for inclement weather across the area impacting travel in the morning and out of an abundance of caution, all PCPS schools and offices will open on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Students should plan to arrive at their bus stop two hours later than normal. We ask parents or guardians of students who drive to school to talk with them about being particularly careful in the morning. We want everyone to arrive safely and ready to learn. Breakfast and lunch will be served at school. We thank everyone for their continued patience and flexibility as we continue to make decisions that have everyone’s safety as our primary concern. Important Bus Route Information: Notice to Parents in the Shenandoah Area-- Bus 48 in Shenandoah will not run in the morning. Bus 5 will run a double route covering Bus 48 1st. Bus 5 students can expect their bus to be about 30 minutes late in the morning. Thank you.

February is African American History Month. This year we will spotlight influential black teachers who have made an impact on education in America. FANNY JACKSON COPPIN 1837-1913 An American educator, missionary, and lifelong supporter of higher education for women, Fanny Jackson Coppin was also the country’s first Black principal. With a passion for educating women, she utilized her role to expand the curriculum to focus on industrial work, develop opportunities to exhibit art created by young women, and push for her students to be hired by employers in positions that utilized their education. In 1926, a Baltimore teacher training school was named after her. Today, that school goes by Coppin State University.
